Description
Description: Chinese calcified nephrite jade snuff bottle of flattened rounded square form, carved with a flying three clawed dragon blowing on the sacred pearl and a leaping carp emerging from waters under it. This motif symbolizes success in the civil service examinations, perseverance, and accomplishment. On the other side, the inscription in four raised characters in seal script style “Fu Gu Chang Yi” (富贵昌宜). The phrase originated from a text taken from the brick carving of the Han dynasty which means eternal prosperity and longevity.

Stopper: Green glass stopper with black plastic collar and a wooden spoon shaped as bamboo and a hand.
Provenance: Bought together with other five bottles from an antiquarian in South Milano, who bought them from an old collector. The bottles here coming from this collection are S63, S64, S65, S66, S67, S68
