Description
Description: Chinese snuff bottle carved out from an amber full of fine dark spots. We do not know the nature of those spots, if they are indicating a type of root amber or not. The surface of the bottle is covered by a texture of fine crazing, see a picture of the detail. The decoration is concentrated in the big handle masks on the sides of the bottle. A strange feature of the amber of this bottle is that a back-lighting is revealing a pattern of lighter spots while the dark spots are disappearing (see the last two pictures).
