Description:  Chinese red lacquered ivory snuff bottle, decorated with a lady in a garden with rocks and a plum tree.

Foot/base:  Low protruded squared foot, slightly recessed flat base

Mark:  Incised, red filled Qianlong mark

Dating:  19th Century

Material:  Ivory

Size:  77 mm high

Stopper:  Lacquered ivory with ivory spoon.

Bottles of this type are usually Japanese. In this case, the style of the lady and the rocks are pointing toward a Chinese origin. It is also worth to note that these bottles are usually made by assembling parts of ivory, while this bottle is carved out from a single ivory piece, except the neck which is added.
