Description
Description: Chinese monochrome ruby red plain glass snuff bottle of flattened round form with everted rim and wide mouth. These wide mouths are more often seen on earlier bottles. The ruby red was obtained by mixing colloidal gold in the glass. The technique was introduced to the Imperial glassworks by German Jesuit missionaries.
