Lidded bowl with pine branches and cranes, 1868-1912

Description

Wooden chawan (bowl with lid) from the Meiji era, decorated with (mostly) gold lacquer on a black background.  The lid is completely covered with pine branches on the outside and shows more pine branches and flying cranes on the inside.  The inside decoration of the bowl mirrors the lid; the outside is an undecorated red.
