Description

Six-lobed Imari plate from the late Edo period.  In the well, a shishi (a mythical Japanese lion-dog, cousin to the Chinese foo).  Around the rim, eight horses in groups of two; possibly the eight horses of Mu-Wang.  On the reverse, auspicious symbols.
